Neck Lift | Scottsdale, AZ

Strike an improved pose after having a cosmetic surgery called a neck lift to tighten the skin of the neck and remove the sagging, loose skin for a slimmer, more taut profile. As an added benefit, this procedure diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and unsightly lines on the neck. The main goal of this procedure is to tighten the skin. However, some patients could benefit from neck liposuction to remove excess fat. During a consultation with Scottsdale, AZ board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Carlos Mata, a.k.a. Dr. Scottsdale®, your goals, and expectations will be discussed and the best surgical approach will be decided.

Neck Lift Surgical Technique

A neck lift removes hanging skin and reshapes the neck. During the procedure, an incision is placed under the chin and others behind and in front of the ears. The incision placed on the chin will be hidden and allow Dr. Scottsdale® to access the neck muscle. This muscle will be dissected to access a fat pocket right under. The fat will be removed manually giving you flatter and tighter results. The muscle will also be fixed by tightening it. The excess skin will be pulled and removed from the other incisions. The Neck Lift is performed under deep sedation in our surgical office in Scottsdale, AZ. This procedure only targets the neck and skin laxity in that area. If you have extra fat or more skin laxity other treatments can be recommended.

Add-on:
  • Neck Vaser Liposuction

Adding Neck Vaser Liposuction to your procedure will remove the excess fat. The neck lift only treats skin laxity. The Vaser Liposuction will give you better results if extra fat is present. Dr. Scottsdale® uses a three-step technique: Tumescent, Vaser, and Assisted Liposuction. This technique gives better and smoother results. Learn more.

  • Facelift

As its name says, a Neck Lift only addresses the neck area while a facelift treats the entire face. This surgical procedure lifts and tightens the entire facial skin & underlying muscle. It also corrects a jowl-like appearance and smooths the deep creases from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Dr. Scottsdale® usually uses the deep plane facelift that gives better results by reshaping, adding volume, and creating tighter contours to your face. Learn more

Neck Lift Recovery

Bruising and swelling will be visible after the surgery, but this will subside in the few short days following the procedure. Initially, patients will feel tightness and numbness. Around one to two weeks will be needed before going back to work and normal activities after a neck lift. Once the neck adjusts to its new position, patients will notice a more relaxed feeling and a beautiful surgical result. For 6 weeks any exercises should be avoided. It may take up to 6 months for the final results to appear.

Neck Lift FAQs

An alternative to Lift?

Surgery is the only way to remove loose skin, especially if it is loose enough to hang and droop. Therefore, a neck lift is the only solution when it comes to redefining an individual’s neck to create a strong contour. While there are some very good skin tightening laser treatments on the market today, surgery is still the best option.

Hidden Scars?

There is minimal scarring with this procedure. Since the incision is placed under the chin and near the ears, the scarring is usually hidden. A skilled facial surgeon will take great effort to minimize scarring as much as possible.

Ideal Age?

This depends on the situation and the amount of loose and sagging skin that is present. Some weight loss patients are young and may require a neck lift at a young age (for example, those between 20 – 30). For older patients, who are combating loose skin due to aging, the most common age is between 50 – 70.
