BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY WITH SALINE IMPLANTS

Saline breast implants consist of silicone shells filled with sterile saline solution. In case of any possible leakage, there is no cause for alarm as the body can harmlessly absorb this solution. The implant's size varies from 100cc to 800cc. The best candidates for saline implants are women with average-sized breasts who want to add additional volume or improve symmetry. Those who opt for this type of implant must be at least 18 years old.

Silicone breast implants are very popular today. Silicone gel breast implants are silicone shells prefilled with silicone gel which comes in different sizes, shapes, and textures. Dr. Carlos Mata only uses smooth implants. You can find sizes from 100cc to 800cc in different profiles like high, moderate, and low. The breast implant profile is chosen depending on the patient's goals. The best candidates for silicone breast implants are women over 21 years old and looking to add volume, cleavage, and/or side boob to their breasts. Checklist.

BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY WITH FAT TRANSFER

As a candidate for breast augmentation who desires fuller breasts but does not want an artificial implant to achieve this look, fat transfer to the breast is a great alternative. In this natural breast augmentation procedure, Dr. Scottsdale® will extract fat from the patient's donor areas, such as the abdomen, flanks, and thighs, via liposuction. The harvested fat will be reinjected into the breasts with small syringes to add volume. Fat Transfer to the breast results will be, on average, a gain of one cup size.

Breast Augmentation Different
Incisions And Placement

THE DUAL-PLANE BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH IMPLANTS

During a breast augmentation, the two most common breast implant placements are either on top of the chest muscle or under it. Dr. Carlos Mata, aka Dr. Scottsdale®, uses a different method: dual-plane breast augmentation for better and long-lasting results. Dual-plane breast augmentation means the implants are placed above and under the pectoralis muscle at the same time. This technique allows fewer complications and a more natural look, especially for thin patients with small breasts, and reduces the drop of the implant and the appearance of wrinkles on the upper part of the breast.

MOST COMMON BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH IMPLANTS INCISION

There are several standard incisions used by plastic surgeons in Scottsdale, Arizona, for breast implant augmentation. The most frequently used method is the inframammary incision, an incision situated close to the fold of the breast. Another alternative is the periareolar incision, which is made underneath the areola. A third technique involves placing the incision within the armpit, a method referred to as the transaxillary approach. But this last technique can damage nerves and cause tissue damage; this is why Dr. Carlos Mata only focuses on the breast fold and areola incisions.

Embarking on a transformative journey like breast augmentation may bring questions and curiosity. Here’s what you can anticipate from your breast augmentation surgery under the expert care of Dr. Carlos Mata at our Scottsdale office.

SEDATION

Your safety and comfort are paramount during the breast enlargement procedure. Hence, the surgery commences with intravenous (IV) sedation. This anesthesia will ensure you are comfortable and asleep throughout the operation, eliminating any potential discomfort.

RAPID RECOVERY TECHNIQUE

Dr. Mata typically places the incision for breast augmentation within the breast fold, aiming for the least visible scarring possible. The exact placement, however, can vary depending on your specific anatomy and the chosen implant type and size.

NO TOUCH TECHNIQUE

Dr. Mata employs the 'No Touch Technique' for implant insertion to mitigate the risk of infection and other potential complications. This method involves using specialized instruments and protective barriers when handling and inserting the implants, significantly reducing the risk of contamination and capsular contracture.

CLOSING

Once the implants are correctly positioned, Dr. Mata applies advanced closing techniques, ensuring all layers of the breast are meticulously sealed. This thorough approach aids in healing, minimizes scarring and maintains the structural integrity and shape of the augmented breasts.

Most Asked Questions About
Breast Augmentation

What Are My Options For Breast Augmentation?

Breast size can be increased by different surgical techniques such as fat transfer and/or breast implants.

Breast implants come in different shapes, forms, and sizes, sometimes challenging your choice of implants. Here are the different breast implant options:

Types of implants, you can choose from silicone or saline. Silicone breast implants, filled with silicone gel, have a texture somewhat similar to natural breast tissue. On the other hand, saline implants comprise an exterior silicone shell filled with sterile saline water. These implants tend to have a firmer feel compared to natural breast tissue and have the option to be filled beyond their initial volume.

Types of shell, at natural results plastic surgery, we are not offering textured implants. Textured implants stick to the breast by creating scar tissue, making them less likely to move around. But in 2021, they were associated with BIA-ALCL, a cancer of the immune system. We are currently offering breast implants with a smooth shell.

Types of profiles silicone implants come in different kinds of profiles: Ultra High, High, Moderate Plus, Moderate, and Low Profile. The implant profile determines how much your implant will project forward from the chest wall when standing. For example, a high profile will stick out more than a moderate profile, but a moderate profile will give you better cleavage. The profile choice is based on your chest, measurements, and goals.

Sizes silicone and saline implants offer a range of sizes from 100cc to 800cc. Saline implants can be overfilled, allowing you to achieve a bigger size.

Vectra 3D, to help you with your decision, we are offering complimentary 3D imaging of your breast during your consultation(s). You can visualize your breast with different implant sizes and profiles.

Hard question to answer, as pregnancy and breastfeeding will most likely affect the appearance of your breast implants. Your breast results will most likely be altered. But if you plan on having kids in ten years, do you really want to wait that long to get a breast augmentation? Ideally, Dr. Mata recommends waiting before you undergo breast augmentation if you are planning to have kids in the next year to two years. But again, it’s your body and your decision.

In general, women choosing breast enhancement at our practice will continue to be able to breastfeed. The ability to breastfeed may be lost in more extensive breast augmentation surgeries. Whenever possible, Dr. Carlos Mata, aka Dr. Scottsdale®, seeks to retain the full functionality of the nipple and breast glands. If this concerns you, please talk with Dr. Mata more about your breastfeeding issues.

Under and over the muscle are the two most common breast implant placement positions. Over means placing implants on top of the chest muscle, and under means placing implants under the muscle. Placing the implant above the muscle increases the risk of rippling, visible folds, or wrinkles. Placing the implant under the muscle increases the risk of animation deformity (the implant will move when contracting your muscle during exercising, etc.). We offer a different technique: dual-plane breast augmentation. It means the implants are placed partially above and under the pectoralis muscle at the same time, allowing fewer complications, a more natural look, and reducing the drop of the implant.

Actually, breast implants don’t need to be replaced every 10-15 years, only if there is a problem such as an implant rupture or capsular contracture. In 2011, the FDA released a report on the safety of silicone breast implants, which shows that after ten years, one out of five patients require revision surgery. The revisions are needed due to excessive scarring and/or implant rupture. But keep in mind that since this study, modern breast implants like gummy bears have made their appearance.

The difference between gummy bear and regular silicone gel implants is based on the consistency and thickness of the silicone gel. Gummy bear implant gel is thicker, firmer, and more cohesive, meaning if your implant ruptures, the risk of leakage/spreading outside of the shell is lower than regular silicone implants, as the gel is thicker.

Yes, a breast lift and augmentation can be performed together. This dual procedure, known as “augmentation-mastopexy,” enhances breast volume using implants and corrects sagging through a lift. The suitability depends on individual goals and anatomy, which should be discussed with your surgeon.
