Motherhood is beautiful, and so are you. Investing in yourself with a mommy makeover in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, or anywhere in the AZ may restore your body to its pre-pregnancy magnificence. A mommy makeover by a Scottsdale, AZ board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Carlos Mata, a.k.a. Dr. Scottsdale® means a combination of different cosmetic procedures that target areas of the body affected by pregnancy like breasts, abdomen, hips, and thighs. The mommy makeover is fully customizable to your goals and can include breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck surgery, fat transfer, and/or liposuction.
Breast: common issues include sagging and loose skin and a loss of breast volume. Some women will have breasts that remain enlarged. Surgeries that may be considered include breast reduction, breast augmentation, breast lift, and/or breast lift with augmentation. For many, a combination of these techniques creates a youthful, beautiful post-pregnancy breast appearance. The most common example is breast augmentation with a lift.
Lower body: it is normal to see loose skin, surface irregularities such as stretch marks, and persistent pockets of fat. These are normally addressed with liposuction and by a no drain tummy tuck to trim away the excess skin and ‘lift’ the remaining skin to a new position. The no drain tummy technique allows faster recovery, reduces the risk of complication, and gives you better results.
Add-on: because every mom is different, it’s common to have an add-on specifically chosen for her. One of the most common add-ons is the Brazilian Butt Lift to increase and shape the buttocks and hips.
A mommy makeover is considered an invasive surgery and in many cases will require a lot of rest and help for a loved one. The surgery is performed under deep sedation in our accredited surgical facility in our Scottsdale, AZ office, and on average takes about 6 hours or longer. Most women find the recovery to be a slow process. Walking upright is difficult in the first several weeks, and it is recommended that patients take it slow during the initial recovery phase. Depending on what was addressed during surgery, it could take between 6 months to a full year for the final results to appear. With that being said, most patients can go back to a normal routine in an average of 3 weeks; however, exercise and lifting are discouraged until at least 6-8 weeks after surgery.

Before planning on having a mommy makeover you should ask yourself a few questions: are you planning on having more children? When did you have your last baby? If you are planning on having more children, it is recommended to wait until you are done having children before undergoing a mommy makeover. The reasons are that a mommy makeover is a financial investment in you and your body, and the results will be altered by another pregnancy. If you are not planning on having anymore children, then it’s the right time to get surgery. You need to wait at least 6 months after being done breastfeeding to be eligible to have a mommy makeover.
Recovery varies from patient to patient based on their body, pain tolerance, and surgeries performed. Recovery is a slow process, and it can be hard to walk upright in the first several weeks. Usually, the patients can go back to a normal routine in an average of 2 to 3 weeks, but exercising and lifting are not recommended until at least 6-8 weeks after surgery. It could take between 6 months to a full year for the final results to appear.
Stretch marks may be minimized when the excess skin is removed depending on their placement. Remaining stretch marks might be minimized after surgery.
While a mommy makeover creates a beautiful new shape and figure for a woman, unfortunately, it does include some scarring. The scars are most common with a breast lift procedure and a tummy tuck. The surgeon will make every effort possible to create clean incisions, as well as take great care in minimizing scarring as much as possible. Any scars that result from this surgery will be able to be concealed with undergarments or swimsuits.
