How to Get Rid of Cellulite with Cellfina®

For many women, and some men, cellulite is a very real cosmetic concern. Cellulite is caused by the accumulation of fat underneath the skin that is then pushed up against connective tissue, creating the dimpled, lumpy appearance that characterizes the condition. It is most common on the back and inside of the thighs and also regularly affects the buttocks. Many people dislike the appearance of their cellulite and are desperate to achieve smoother, sleeker contours. Fortunately, there are treatments that can help eliminate cellulite and make this dream a reality with one of the most effective treatments being Cellfina®.

What is Cellfina®?

Cellfina® is an FDA-approved, minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure that is clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite.
Many products that claim to be able to reduce or eliminate cellulite produce mediocre results, that are difficult to sustain without continued use of the product. However, Cellfina® is proven to be able to address the dimpling and uneven skin texture that characterizes cellulite for at least two years before further treatment is needed. This is the longest-lasting result of any FDA-approved cellulite-blasting procedure. It does this by actually addressing the underlying cause of the cellulite, rather than just the skin itself.

Before your Cellfina® treatment

Before you attend your appointment for Cellfina® treatment in Scottsdale, AZ, you will be given very specific advice that will ensure you are as healthy as possible ahead of your procedure as well as minimize the risks of complications to achieve the best cosmetic outcome from surgery. Some of this advice will include:

  • Avoid taking aspirin, vitamin E supplements, and herbal supplements for at least two weeks prior to surgery.
  • Avoid sunbathing/excessive sun exposure for at least a week before your treatment, including the use of tanning beds.
  • Do not wear any cosmetics, moisturizers, perfumes, hairspray, or jewelry on the day of your treatment.
  • Wear loose, comfortable-fitting clothes that you can easily remove.
  • Take someone with you to drive you home afterwards.

It is essential to follow this advice and that you ask your Cellfina® team if you have any questions or concerns about the procedure.

The Cellfina® procedure

The procedure is very straightforward and doesn’t require any anesthetic. Most patients relax with a book, magazine or by listening to music while their treatment is being carried out. A suction machine is attached to one of the spots being targeted for treatment, and while this sucks up your skin, it is injected with a numbing agent. This is repeated across the entire area on each spot that has been pre-determined for treatment before you entered the operating room. Once the entire area is numb, the Cellfina® machine is used to sever the connective tissue pushing up against your fat cells causing your cellulite – treating the underlying cause of the cellulite itself, rather than just the overlying skin. Once the tension from each band of connective tissue has been severed, the skin bounces back to smooth itself out, eliminating the appearance of any cellulite. The entire process usually takes less than an hour and you can go home the same day, armed with information on how to care for your now cellulite-free body.

Once the treatment is complete, you will be given compression pants to wear which you will need to keep in place until your post-operative appointment the following day. This will be used to assess the success of your treatment. Some discomfort, swelling and even bruising is common and should improve within a week of your procedure. You will also have to limit your exercise for up to a week.
